On September 1, 2024, the Malaysia Business Office (MBO) Council held its meeting in Kunming, China, with 16 members from four organizations in Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and China, including the Regional Director of ICA-AP, Mr. Balasubramanian Iyer. Additionally, four members from ANGKASA, Malaysia joined the meeting online.

The Council strengthened its position by adopting strategic policies aligned with current needs, ensuring its relevance in fostering cooperative business engagement. These efforts aimed to enhance the Council's effectiveness in navigating the rapidly changing business landscape. Supporting the growing ICA-AP membership, the MBO Council reassessed the strategic objectives set in 2014. New policies were outlined to ensure alignment with these objectives.

In preparation for 2025, which coincides with the International Year of Cooperatives, the Council planned a series of strategic activities designed to address current challenges and boost high-impact initiatives within the cooperative sector.

A review of activities from 2023 to 2024 showed that MBO successfully organized numerous programs for ICA-AP members. However, the Council agreed to enhance its efforts, particularly in fostering high-impact initiatives and serving as a key connector in the cooperative business sector, to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The meeting concluded with discussions on strengthening cross-border cooperation and developing innovative strategies to enhance the collective impact of cooperatives across the Asia-Pacific region.
