The second ICA Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP) Trade and Business Committee Meeting of 2024 was held on September 1, 2024 in Kunming, China. The meeting was attended by 28 members representing 15 organizations from 12 countries, including India, China, Malaysia, Palestine, Vietnam, the Philippines, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Iran, Korea, and Thailand.

 

During the meeting, five new organizations were ratified by the Committee: Aurora Integrated Multipurpose Cooperative (AIMCOOP) from the Philippines; Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd (ULCCS) from India; Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Limited (NACCFL) from Nepal; Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives from Vietnam; and Cambodia Agricultural Cooperative Alliance from Cambodia.

 

Key topics discussed included planning activities for 2025, focusing on enhancing cooperative trade and business across the Asia-Pacific region. It was also announced that the first meeting of 2025 will take place in Tehran, Iran, supported by the Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC). Dato' Abdullah Jusoh, Chair of the Working Committee, also presented the results of a comprehensive trade survey conducted earlier in the year.

 

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah, who emphasized the significance of continued cooperation and active participation in efforts to enhance the growth of cooperative trade and business across the region.
