In a move signalling a new era of bilateral cooperation, the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC) and the National Association of Cooperatives and Other Forms of Economic Communities of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NACOFEC) signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in Beijing on September 18, 2024. This landmark agreement underscores the commitment of both nations to bolstering agricultural ties and deepening economic partnership.
The agreement, overseen by high-ranking officials from both sides, seeks to leverage the strengths of the ACFSMC and NACOFEC. This partnership aims to boost agricultural trade, knowledge exchange, and international cooperation, ultimately contributing to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly within Central Asia.
This agreement builds upon the robust foundation of the China-Kazakhstan strategic partnership, which has witnessed flourishing collaboration across various sectors. Agriculture, a cornerstone of this partnership, presents immense potential for mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in agricultural inputs and product trade, socialized agricultural services, and cooperative training.
ACFSMC, a cornerstone of China's agricultural landscape, plays a critical role in rural development, ensuring agricultural product supply, and serving urban and rural residents alike. Similarly, NACOFEC is a key player in propelling agricultural growth and promoting consumer welfare in Kazakhstan.
Both parties acknowledged that strengthening cooperative partnerships aligns with their shared principles and will catalyze high-quality development in their respective agricultural sectors. Moreover, it is expected to streamline agricultural production and distribution systems, setting a precedent for cooperative development along the Belt and Road, particularly within Central Asia.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in China-Kazakhstan’s cooperative relations. With sustained commitment and concerted efforts, it holds the potential to yield substantial benefits for both nations, deepening their bilateral relationship and creating shared prosperity for their people.
