It has been an exceptionally productive year at DotCooperation, the organization responsible for managing various tools designed to promote and elevate the Cooperative Identity. These tools include the .coop and .creditunion domain names, the Coop Marque, the website stories.coop, and the recently launched Cooperative World Map.
During the launch of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 at the ICA Global Cooperative Conference in Delhi in November 2024, the DotCooperation team began a new chapter in the Asia-Pacific region. They forged new partnerships and laid the groundwork for raising the profile of cooperatives across the region.
Launching the Cooperative World Map
The Cooperative World Map (CWM) is a cornerstone initiative that will drive a wide range of exciting projects in 2025 and beyond. This interactive, up-to-date digital map is designed to connect and showcase cooperative entities worldwide. It provides a visual representation of cooperatives that have voluntarily shared their data to be part of this accessible, open platform.
Powered by the Cooperative World Data Project, the map is built on open-source technology that facilitates mapping and data sharing. It serves as a common digital hub where cooperatives can connect, share information, promote the strengths of the cooperative model, and raise awareness about the benefits of cooperation.
The CWM was unveiled during the ICA Global Conference and currently features over 60,000 cooperatives. However, significant work is still to be done to expand the platform. In 2025, efforts will focus on onboarding new data partners and enriching the database. To explore the map, visit – worldmap.coop
Expanding Partnerships in Asia and the Pacific
DotCooperation is also working to establish new registrar and sales partnerships in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region. These agreements aim to make cooperative identity tools—such as the World Map, .coop and .creditunion domains, and the global Coop Marque—more accessible to cooperatives throughout the region. These tools, highlighted by numerous apex organizations during the ICA Global Conference, represent some of the best resources for showcasing the cooperative business model to the broader world.
