The Cooperative Bulk Handling born out of adversity in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was the realization that a cheap and efficient bulk handing system would reduce growers’ cost and outlay on wheat bags which lead to the birth of Cooperative Bulk Handling.In 1933 the trustees of the wheat pool of WA and Wesfarmers Ltd registered the Cooperative. CBH was based on cooperative principles of one member one vote, irrespective of the volume of grain delivered.The CBH storage system expanded rapidly and by the 1960s there were over 300 grain receiver points.
In 2008 CBH celebrated its 75th anniversary as one of Australia’s leading grain businesses with net assets around $1 billion. In 2010 CBH re branded their marketing and engineering businesses to CBH Grain and CBH engineering to better reflect that they are one team and to harness the power of CBH name.CBH is confident that they will grow more stronger in the decades ahead with the partnership with their grower members.
