Mr. Balasubramanian (Balu) Iyer

Mr. Balasubramanian (Balu) Iyer joined as Regional Director for Asia-Pacific in April, 2014. Mr. Iyer has over 25 years’ experience managing international development operations and overseeing multiple country offices including experience building new offices from the ground up. Mr. Iyer worked in India in co-operative development before moving abroad to work on Asian regional concerns for overseas agencies, and in particular in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Korea, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. He has worked with the Aga Khan Rural Support Program, ActionAid India, International Development Exchange and the Asia Foundation.  Mr. Iyer was born in India and educated in India and the United States, receiving a degree in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology at Durgapur, a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management at Anand, India, and Masters in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at U.C.Berkeley.

Mr. Kulbhushan Kukreja

Mr. K. Kukreja works as the Director Finance &Admin for the ICA Regional Office since 1987. He holds a Post Graduate/Masters Degree in Commerce with specilization in Accounting and Business Statistics. He also holds a post-graduate Diploma from a renowned Government Institute for Corporate Law and Management with specialization in Contract Act and Corporate Negotiaons. Mr. Kukreja is also responsible for the accounts and taxation matters of ICA - Asia & Pacific and its staff. He also handles the financial/accounting matters of the ICA Singapore Business office.

Mr. Mohit Dave

Mr. Mohit Dave joined us in May, 2017 for the ICA-EU Partnership on Cooperatives in Development: People-Centred Businesses in Action. He is a trained mechanical engineer from University of Mumbai and worked as an engineering consultant at Croydon-based Mott MacDonald, an employee-owned management, engineering and development consultancy. Later, he was selected for a brief stint at State Bank of India for its Youth-for-India fellowship program, where he partnered with grassroot organisations and producer cooperatives to streamline their agriculture value chain. While undergoing post graduation from Institute of Rural Management Anand, Mohit interned with a commodity trading firm in West Africa, based in Benin. He has experience in writing business plans for producer cooperatives and has won business school competitions in India and Singapore. Most of his work has been focused on implementing growth strategies, data analysis and partnership-building..

Ms. Simren.singh

Ms. Simren Singh works in the capacity of a Program Officer under the ICA-EU Project Cooperatives in Development: People Centred Businesses in Action. As a Program Officer, she is overseeing the research work under the ICA-EU project. Simren also serves as the Secretary of ICA AP Committee on Youth Cooperation (ICYC) and ICA AP Committee on Cooperatives in Education Institutions (ICEI).

Prior to joining ICA-AP, Simren worked as Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Associate at Seva Mandir in Udaipur, where she supported project teams in streamlining results-based M&E systems across Gender, Education, Livelihoods and Health programmes. She has worked as Research Associate with Outline India in Gurgaon and as a Business Analyst with Goodera, in Bangalore. Simren holds a M.A. in Politics (specialization in International Relations) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and a B.A.(Economics and Political Science) from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. She was also a Fellow under the State Bank of India, Youth for India Fellowship in 2014.

Ms. Shivali Sarna

Ms. Shivali Sarna is a Development Communication Professional with four years of experience. Shivali joined ICA-AP as the Communication and Membership Development Officer in September 2020. Her key role is to ensure the effectiveness of communication tasks and active engagement with members.

Before joining ICA-AP, Shivali has headed the Communication and Business Development portfolio at Access Livelihoods Consulting India Ltd., a social enterprise incubating cooperatives and collectives. She has also worked in the capacity of an Editor and Social Media Manager with a publishing agency. She has earned her Post-Graduate Degree in M.A. Media Governance from Centre for Culture, Media, and Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia; and has Graduated in B.Sc (Hon.) Home Science with a specialisation in Development Communication and Extension from the University of Delhi.

Mr. Ganesh Gopal

Ganesh Gopal is the Lead – Entrepreneurship Development at the International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) office in New Delhi. He oversees programmes pertaining to cooperative entrepreneurship, youth and legal research.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Madras Christian College, Chennai and a Master’s degree in Economics. He also has a Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) with diverse experience working in the domains of tech innovation, financial literacy, policy research and management. Ganesh has previously worked in organisations such as the National Centre for Financial Education, Mumbai (NCFE – Joint Venture of Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, IRDA and PFRDA) and the Kerala Startup Mission (under Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Kerala, India). He has also co-founded and worked closely with two non-profit institutions working in the domains of policy research and technology-skills learning respectively.
