HOST: Japan Committee for the International Year of Co-operatives in 2025 (IYC2025 Japan Committee) and International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Japan (TBC)
The International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific region and Japan are set to kick off the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC2025) celebrations with a special launch event. Scheduled for February 19, 2025, from 13:00 to 16:00 JST (9:30 to 12:30 IST) at the United Nations University in Tokyo. This hybrid event, organized in collaboration with the IYC 2025 Japan Committee and ILO Office for Japan, will feature live English-Japanese interpretation for broader accessibility.
The program includes
A video message from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, ICA President Dr. Ariel Guarco, ICA-AP President Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, and key representatives from the Japanese government and cooperative sector.
Attendees will gain insights into IYC2025 activity plans from cooperatives across Japan and the Asia-Pacific, while youth voices—including remarks from Atty. Dulce Bustamante, Chairperson of the ICA-AP Committee on Youth Cooperation, will highlight the role of young leaders in the cooperative movement.
The event will also feature short films showcasing the impact of cooperatives across the region.
