National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) jointly celebrated the 100th International Day of Cooperatives with the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India on 4 July in New Delhi, India. The theme of the event was ‘Cooperatives Build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) and a Better World.’ The Chief Guest, Mr. Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, made many important announcements for the growth and development of cooperatives in India. The National Cooperative Federation (NCF) of Nepal along with the Nepalese cooperators celebrated the 100th International Day of Cooperatives and 29th National Cooperative Federation Day on 2 July at the NCF Seminar Hall, Lalitpur, Nepal. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Shashi Shrestha, Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Minister. The event recording is available here.

 

Japan Co-operative Alliance (JCA) and Cooperatives in Japan jointly celebrated the 100th International Day of Co-operatives in hybrid mode on 4 July in Tokyo. It was aimed at exploring the Cooperative identity as to how cooperatives can value and reflect the identity in their businesses and activities by seeing the best practices of Japanese Cooperatives in various fields. It was participated by more than 400 cooperators.

 

The National Cooperative Union of Bangladesh (BJSU) observed the day in a festive way and organised a flag hoisting ceremony and a seminar. The Minister and Secretary of the Cooperative Department and the D.G and Registrar of Cooperatives were also present. 

 

The Cooperative movement in Palestine in partnership with the ILO organized a Hybrid event on 6 July to celebrate the 100th International Day of Cooperatives. The event focused on the role of cooperatives as a driving force in Palestinian Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) development; how cooperatives and other SSE organizations can help communities grow stronger in the post-pandemic world, and their role in addressing Climate Change for a Better World. The event was attended by national and international cooperative experts and representatives from the government.
