ICA Committee on Agriculture for Asia & the Pacific met at Melia Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam on 1st December, 2008.

There was a joint Seminar with the International Cooperative Agricultural Organisation (ICAO), preceding the Meeting of the Committee. The Seminar has discussed Cooperative Advantage on Agriculture in the Asia Pacific Region in view of the global financial turmoil.

Considering the role of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in promoting agriculture and agriculture cooperatives in Asia Pacific, the members elected Shri N.P. Patel, Vice-Chairman, IFFCO unanimously as the Chairman of this Committee for a period of four years.

Chairman of the Regional Committee, Shri Patel will also be participating in the Meetings of ICAO.

The Regional Committee on Agriculture will meet at least once in every year at a venue mutually agreed by the members of the Committee.
