The Malaysian government announced a review of cooperative governance and legislation to enable the sector to grow. The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, Tan Sri Noh Omar, said the review was to ensure that cooperatives could grow and move forward towards achieving the country’s socio-economic development objectives.
On 12 February, the Ministry in collaboration with Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) organised the cooperative 100 years celebration ceremony themed, "Cooperatives Movement, Developing Keluarga Malaysia." Through this celebration, the government recognised the significant contribution of the cooperative movement to the country’s socio-economic development and showcased its 100 years of existence.
