During the recent heavy rains the Si ripura area in Aranayake was severely affected (1 9th May) by landslides which had accounted for 83 number o f deaths, 127 number of disappearances. In additi on to that more people were affected by the floods in Colomb o District, Gampaha District and Rathnapura Distri ct in Sri Lanka and least 325,000 peoples were affected by nat ural disaster. Many Houses, Factories, Cooperative outlets and all the things of affected peoples con fiscated by this hapless situation and most people are stagnancy yet at temporary resident places.

As the responsible top level Cooperative Organization, Sri Lanka Consumer Cooperativ e Societies Federation Limited is supplying essential foods to those and arranging some local donation also.
