The Palestinian Agricultural Cooperative Union (PACU) has established a farmers' market under the brand name "MAWARES", implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. The initiative has received support from We Effect,   Al-Bireh Municipality and financial support from the Government of Canada.

This is a first of its kind market in Palestine that aims to promote and sell the products of agricultural cooperatives. It aims to develop and ensure high-quality and safely packaged products at competitive prices.

MAWARES Market has 5 main sections: Fresh Vegetables and Fruits, Food Processing, Dairy Products, Poultry, and Handicrafts. The market will provide income to PACU and its members and in addition create employment opportunities and help improve the economic and living conditions of hundreds of families that depend on agricultural production. It will also improve the quality of locally produced cooperative products by creating a positive situation among small Palestinian agricultural producers. It will enhance the image of local products among local consumers, promote rural and agricultural products as an alternative to imported products in a way that meets the desires of Palestinian consumers, and raise awareness of the importance of consuming naturally produced products that are free of pesticides and preservatives.

MAWARES is the brand name and official trademark of the agricultural cooperative products and it will be marketed in the local and Arab markets by PACU.

The farmers' market is committed to packaging, labeling, and promoting Palestine's best foods. These foods and flavors shape Palestinian identity and are woven into every part of its culture and heritage. The products tell the story of the Palestinian people through generations. PACU is committed to supporting cooperatives and small farmers to ensure their resilience, improve their income, and contribute to the Palestinian economy.
