Emirates for Community Empowerment (ECE), an ICA member from UAE organised a discussion on the subject,‘How do Cooperatives differ from corporations?’ on Twitter Spaces on 27 June.
The session, mainly in Arabic, had speakers and attendees from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, etc. Mr. AI Wably, Cooperative Development Expert from Saudi Arabia was the main speaker. Mr. Ganesh Gopal, Lead-Entrepreneurship Development, ICA-AP participated in the session and provided views about the factors differentiating cooperatives and companies based on the fundamental cooperative principles and associated legal differences.
ECE joined the ICA as an associate member in May 2022 and was established as a socio-economic innovation to support the third sector, especially cooperatives.
