The Cooperative Haat (market) was set up on the sidelines of the ICA Global Cooperative Conference and General Assembly 2024 from 25 to 29 November at the Multipurpose Hall of Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India.

The exhibition showcased the diverse contributions of cooperatives in promoting prosperity and sustainability worldwide, featuring participation from 15 organizations. Notable exhibitors included the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (Bhutan), Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (India), Fair Trade (India), Mondragon (Spain), IFFCO (India), Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation or Amul (India), Krishak Bharti Cooperative Limited, KRIBHCO (India), NCUI Haat (India), National Cooperative Development Corporation (India), SEWA (India), the National Association of Mongolian Agricultural Cooperatives (Mongolia), and ESAF Cooperative (India).

The ICA-AP Trade and Business Committee participated through a shared booth showcasing three member organizations – ANGKASA (Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia), ICC (Iran Chamber of Cooperatives, Iran), and ULCCS (Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd, India). In addition to featuring products from these cooperatives, the booth prominently displayed materials promoting the Trade and Business Committee itself. Posters highlighted the committee’s mandate, which focuses on fostering cross-border trade and business collaboration among cooperatives. The materials also outlined the committee’s membership, comprising cooperatives from diverse organizations and countries, as well as its key activities, such as organizing trade fairs, facilitating knowledge-sharing forums, workshops, seminars and conferences, and supporting cooperative-led trade initiatives.

The Cooperative Haat served as a vibrant platform for networking and exchange, enabling cooperatives to share innovations, explore new partnerships, and enhance their visibility in the global marketplace. The Trade and Business Committee’s booth attracted significant interest, emphasizing the critical role of cooperative networks in addressing global economic challenges and building sustainable futures. By promoting its mandate and initiatives, the committee underscored its commitment to empowering cooperatives through trade and business opportunities. This event successfully demonstrated the power of collective action within the cooperative movement and its potential to create inclusive economic growth and resilience worldwide.
