The ICA-AP Committee on Agriculture and Environment, established in 2023, focuses on advancing cooperatives in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related sectors in the Asia-Pacific. It advocates for supportive policies, addresses climate challenges, empowers marginalized groups, and seeks recognition of cooperatives in policy frameworks.
The ICA-AP Committee on Consumer Cooperation, established in 1977, promotes consumer cooperation and advocates for policies to safeguard consumer interests. It organizes programs to review progress, foster growth, and facilitate cross-learning among consumer cooperatives. The Japanese Consumer Cooperative Union (JCCU) has financially supported the committee activities for many years.
The ICA-AP Committee on Cooperative Research (ICCR), established in 2000, promotes and supports research within cooperatives and research organizations at regional, national, and local levels. Its members include researchers, academics, and representatives from ICA-AP member organizations. Over two decades, ICCR has organized 15 regional research conferences and numerous local seminars across the Asia-Pacific region.
The ICA-AP Committee on Credit and Banking, established in 1998, promotes cooperative credit and banking development in the region. It emphasizes the involvement of women and youth and organizes various events such as seminars, conferences, and roundtable discussions. These efforts aim to enhance understanding and foster cooperation in credit and banking cooperatives.
The ICA-AP Committee on Cooperatives in Educational Institutions (ICEI), formed in 2008, fosters the growth of cooperatives within educational institutions, engaging teachers, staff, and students as members. It promotes youth involvement in cooperatives, instilling cooperative values and self-help principles. The National Federation of University Cooperative Associations (NFUCA) actively supports ICEI's activities.
The ICA-AP Committee on Human Resource Development (HRD), established in the 1980s, promotes HRD programs within cooperatives at various levels. It conducts seminars, workshops, and training sessions to disseminate HRD practices, facilitate exchange visits for learning, and enhance HR capabilities among members.
The ICA-AP Committee on Trade and Business, established in 2016, promotes regional trade and business growth through policy recommendations, supporting interactions, and information dissemination. It organizes seminars, workshops, and facilitate participation in trade fairs for its members, facilitates exchange visits, and fosters business relationships.
The ICA-AP Committee on Women, founded in 1998, promotes gender integration in cooperatives, focusing on enhancing women's participation at leadership levels. It facilitates networking, capacity building, and advocacy for gender equality, implementing various interventions such as Training of Trainers’ programs and awareness campaigns through Ministers’ Conferences, Women’s Forums and other regional platforms. The Japanese Consumers’ Co-operative Union (JCCU) actively supports its activities.
The ICA-AP Committee on Youth Cooperation (ICYC), established in 2000, fosters youth engagement in cooperatives by facilitating knowledge exchange and capacity building. It promotes participatory democracy, strengthens youth cooperatives' business activities, and facilitates networking with cooperatives at all levels. Through seminars, conferences, and workshops, it promotes cooperatives among youth and has successfully led climate action through its Go Green campaign.
