The International Cooperative Alliance is an independent, non-governmental organization established in 1895 to unite, represent and serve cooperatives worldwide. ICA Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) established its regional office in New Delhi in 1960 to serve as a voice and platform for knowledge-sharing, expertise, and coordinated action on cooperatives in the region. The ICA-AP members are national cooperative organizations across 29 countries from all sectors of the economy, including agriculture, industry, services, banking, retail, fisheries, health, housing and insurance. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES


ICA Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) is seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications and Events Officer to support its communication efforts and key regional events. The Officer will work closely with the Lead – Communications and Membership Development to ensure effective outreach, content development, and successful coordination of key regional events, including the Regional Assembly 2025 in Sri Lanka.

The role is 60% focused on communication tasks and 40% on events coordination. Key Responsibilities include:


1. Communication (60%)
Promote Awareness and Visibility of Cooperatives


  • Support in preparing visibility materials (press releases, key messages, etc.) to raise awareness and engagement of the cooperative movement in the Asia-Pacific region. 
  • Create regular content (audio-visual and narrative) for ICA-AP Website and social media platforms
  • Develop strategies to enhance and sustain engagement across ICA-AP social media channels. Analyze social media metrics and generate engagement reports.
  • Gather bi-weekly updates from program teams, create compelling content for the ICA-AP website, and amplify it through social media. 
  • Curate and create stories from the regional cooperative movement for ICA-AP’s monthly newsletter and social media features. 
  • Support in curating and promoting inspirational stories from the regional cooperative movement as part of the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC 2025) campaign. 
  • Support in content editing and design of the Coop Dialogue publication.

Database and Outreach Management

  • Regularly update and maintain the ICA-AP mailing list. 
  • Ensure members’ contact data (social media and websites) are updated quarterly. 
  • Keep the contact list synced with the ICA’s database. 
  • Manage ICA-AP’s SharePoint by ensuring key documents and resources are available and up-to-date. 


2. Events Coordination Support (40%)

Regional Assembly 2025 – Sri Lanka

  • Oversee online registrations and participant coordination. 
  • Track event-related email communication, ensuring timely responses with support from the ICA-AP team.

  • Assist with logistical arrangements and liaise with organizing teams. 
  • Develop promotional content and support event promotion through ICA-AP’s channels.
  • Help with post-event tasks like writing reports, collecting feedback, updating records, thank you notes, and following up with participants. 


Support for Other ICA-AP Events, Workshops, and Seminars

  • Assist in participant registration, logistical support, coordination, and post event support of the events. 
  • Support event promotion and outreach to members and stakeholders to boost participation. 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience in the social sector, with a focus on communications and event coordination, including registration and logistics management.
  • Excellent command of English and strong content writing and editing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience creating engaging digital content for websites, newsletters, and social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and WordPress for website content management.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp or CiviCRM).
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage event operations efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cooperative values and principles.
 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of video editing tools (e.g., Canva video tools, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro). 
  • Prior experience working on development projects or programmes with an international organisation, membership-based organisations, or civil society organisation. 
  • Familiarity with cooperative enterprise model
 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Successful applicant is required to join from June 2025 on a one-year contract which can then be further renewed based on performance.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in India at the time of application. ICA-AP is unable to sponsor work permits.

 

The position is based at the ICA-AP Regional Office in New Delhi, India. The selected candidate will report to the Lead – Communications and Membership Development, under the overall supervision of the Regional Director.

 

Remuneration will be commensurate with relevant experience and industry standards
