

The Fiji snapshot, originally developed in 2020 under the ICA-EU FFPA 1, offers an overview of the cooperative landscape, policy developments, and cooperatives’ contributions to the economy. In Phase 2, the snapshot has been updated with new insights and recent developments, including:
Latest Data: Overview of 715 registered cooperatives in Fiji, including 62 women-led cooperatives, their contribution to economic growth, and sectoral presence across all regions.
Policy Initiatives: The National Development Plan 2025–2029 and Vision 2050 recognize cooperatives as vital to community development, supported by a new national cooperative database and a dedicated Cooperative Development Fund.
Case Studies:
International Engagement: Fiji continues to actively engage in regional and global cooperative platforms, including UNDESA capacity-building workshops, and the Asia-Pacific Ministers’ Conference, highlighting its commitment to cooperative growth.
