12th Malaysia Business Office Council Meeting
The MBO Council Meeting, held on 24 November 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, was attended by all four organisations. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah. ANGKASA, Malaysia, was represented by Datuk Kamarudin Ismail, Vice President, Dato’ Abdullah Jusoh, Group Chief Executive Officer, and Ms Wan Azwati Wan Mohamed, Manager of MBO. Representatives from the other seconding organisations included Mr Haruyoshi Amano and Mr Sungjoon Kang from the Japanese Consumers’ Co-operative Union (JCCU), Japan; Ms Helen Zhang from the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC), China; and Mr Lee Jongseok from the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF), South Korea. The MBO Secretariat, Ms Noor Azlinn Zahariman and Ms NurFahana Zabha, supported the session.
The meeting began with presentations on MBO Malaysia’s 2025 activities delivered by Ms Wan Azwati Wan Mohamed, followed by Mr Sungjoon Kang, who shared insights from the Consumer Committee as well as activities carried out throughout 2025. The meeting highlighted ongoing initiatives, strengthened cross-border collaboration, and reaffirmed the shared commitment of MBO offices in supporting ICA-AP’s cooperative development agenda. Discussions focused on enhancing communication among member countries, establishing focal points, empowering new members to lead activities, and exploring collaboration with other ICA-AP committees. The meeting also reviewed MBO’s financial status and strategic focus areas such as halal supply chains, consumer standards, smart agriculture, climate resilience, and ASEAN trade. The meeting concluded with a shared vision for innovative programmes in 2026.
