Meeting of the ICA-AP Trade and Business Committee

The ICA-AP Trade and Business Committee Meeting was held on 25 November 2025 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, bringing together 22 representatives from 11 organisations across eight countries: Malaysia, China, Iran, Palestine, Thailand, the Philippines, India, South Korea, and Sri Lanka. The meeting was chaired by Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah, and Ms Wan Azwati Wan Mohamed, as Secretary, presented the Committee’s 2025 achievements and programme plans for 2026.

Members discussed online meetings, participation in international exhibitions in Shanghai and New Delhi, and the Trade Dialogue in Kunming, focusing on e-commerce and digital technology. New members from Fiji and Palestine were confirmed. The 2026 programme was outlined, including a first-quarter online meeting, a second-quarter physical meeting, a third-quarter cooperative tourism and school programme in Malaysia, and a fourth-quarter trade mission or trade fair. Practical initiatives included forming thematic sub-groups, creating a digital platform for cooperative product promotion, engaging youth participants, and identifying ten priority products for export and import in each member country. The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen collaboration among ICA-AP committees and expand cooperative trade networks across the region, with the next Committee Meeting scheduled to be held in China.

Together, these sessions demonstrated the Asia-Pacific cooperative community’s continued dedication to building stronger partnerships, promoting regional trade, and advancing collective economic development.
