Kalandia Camp Women’s Handicraft Cooperative from Palestine joins the ICA Member
The Kalandia Camp Women’s Handicraft Cooperative (KCWHC) from Palestine joined the ICA as a new member in December 2025. Established as one of Palestine’s earliest cooperatives, and the second women-owned cooperative in the country, KCWHC has been a critical support system for marginalised Palestinian women and families across refugee camps, nearby villages, and parts of the Gaza Strip. The cooperative works to improve social and economic conditions by offering vocational training, cultural and educational programmes, and a wide range of community services.
KCWHC operates dedicated units covering handicraft production, vocational training, and humanitarian services. Its production arm runs a sewing factory, embroidery and handicrafts unit, knitting and quilting workshops, as well as dried herbs and agri-food processing activities. The services division provides literacy and health courses, first aid education, kindergarten catering, sponsorship schemes, university student funds, summer schools, and civic education. The cooperative also extends humanitarian support, including food distribution to families most affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
By joining ICA-AP, the cooperative aims to expand its global reach, build partnerships, and strengthen its contribution to the broader cooperative movement.
