ULCCS from India Elects its New Chairman

Mr. Shaju S. has been elected Chairman of the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS), Kerala, succeeding the late Mr. Remeshan Palery. The Board of Directors elected him unanimously in mid-September 2026, and Mr. K. Praveen Kumar, Chief General Manager, has been appointed Managing Director.

Mr. Shaju brings nearly three decades of experience with the society. He joined ULCCS in 1997 as a clerk, rose through successive roles, and served as Secretary and Managing Director for 17 years from 2009. His connection to the movement runs deeper still, as his grandfather and great-grandfather were among the founding members of ULCCS a century ago. He also worked closely with his predecessor on major development initiatives and served as a director of the society’s associate institutions.

His appointment is seen as continuity of the society’s strategic direction rather than a break from the past. According to the Kerala State Planning Board, ULCCS supports the livelihoods of over 13,000 workers, and the society has diversified beyond construction into IT, real estate, tourism and renewable energy, with UL CyberPark serving as a major IT hub in northern Kerala. Mr. Shaju’s priorities include building ULCCS into a stronger, sustainable and globally recognized institution, expanding beyond Kerala and India, adopting new technologies and continuing to create employment and safeguard member welfare.

ICA-AP Regional Office congratulates Mr. Shaju on his new role and looks forward to working with him.
