Thailand Country Snapshot: A Century of Cooperative Strength

The International Cooperative Alliance – Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) has released a new Country Snapshot on Thailand, capturing the scale, structure, and evolution of one of the region’s most established cooperative movements.

With origins dating back over a century, Thailand’s cooperatives have grown into a multi-sectoral system spanning agriculture, finance, and services, supported by strong institutional and policy frameworks. Today, they play a central role in supporting livelihoods, strengthening rural economies, and expanding access to financial services.

The snapshot highlights key trends shaping the sector, including diversification, improved market linkages, and growing resilience in the face of economic and environmental challenges.

Offering both data and insights, the publication presents Thailand as a compelling model of how sustained policy support and cooperative enterprise can drive inclusive development.
