ANGKASA Signs MoUs with IFFCO and ICC to Promote Cooperative Trade

On 28 November 2024, ANGKASA, the Malaysian National Cooperative Movement, signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO, India) and the Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC, Iran) in New Delhi, India. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Malaysia’s High Commissioner to India, His Excellency Dato’ Muzaffar Shah Mustafa.

The MoU with IFFCO renews an existing partnership for an additional two years, focusing on promoting the adoption of Nano Urea fertilizer among cooperative members in Malaysia’s plantation and agricultural sectors to enhance productivity. As one of India’s largest cooperatives, headquartered in New Delhi, IFFCO has developed innovative Nano Urea fertilizer, utilizing advanced nitrogen compounds and nanoscale technology to support sustainable agricultural growth.

The MoU with ICC establishes a collaborative framework to strengthen trade and cooperative development between Malaysia and Iran. This agreement aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and best practices while fostering bilateral growth in international trade and cooperative development. ICC, a member of ICA and an active participant in the ICA-AP Trade and Business Committee, plays a vital role in advancing the cooperative sector in Iran, promoting trade, financial growth, and social development.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Balusubramanian Iyer, Regional Director of ICA-AP; Datuk Rusli Jaafar, CEO of the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (MCSC); Mr. Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director of IFFCO; and Mr. Alireza Mahmoudi, Member of the Board of ICC. Representing ANGKASA were Datuk Haji Mohamad Ali Hasan, Dato’ Haji Kamarudin Ismail, Mr. Azizul Alias, and Group CEO, Dato’ Haji Abdullah Jusoh.

The signing of these MoUs marks a significant milestone for ANGKASA in expanding its international partnerships. The collaboration with IFFCO is expected to boost agricultural productivity in Malaysia, while the partnership with ICC will enhance trade opportunities and cooperative development between the two nations.
