Walking towards a Sustainable Cooperative Future: Celebrating IYC 2025 in China
For cooperative movements around the globe, 2025 is a historic year. The United Nations has declared it the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC 2025), which is themed on “Cooperatives Build a Better World”. As part of the celebration, All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC), an ICA member in China, held a “fitness walking” event on 16 May, featuring the inclusion of nature, health, and sustainability.
It was organized in parks in the Northwest of Beijing. ACFSMC publicized the major concepts of IYC 2025 and the ongoing cooperative movement in China by handing out specially designed badges and pamphlets.
Mr. Adili Wubuli, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of ACFSMC, participated in the event and emphasized the importance of the initiative, underscoring the vital role cooperatives in China can play in sustainable development.
Preparation is also underway for a series of other celebratory events by ACFSMC throughout the year, which include a workshop on sustainable development and capacity building, an international cooperative exhibition, and a cooperative forum.
