Coop Tourism in Focus: ICA-AP to Host Pre-Event Webinar Ahead of Regional Immersion Programme

The International Cooperative Alliance – Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP), through its Committee on Cooperatives in Educational Institutions (ICEI) in collaboration with the Committee on Trade and Business, will host a pre-event webinar titled “Coop Tourism, Unlocking Business Potential” on 15 May 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM IST.

The webinar will formally launch the ICA-AP Regional Immersion Programme on Cooperative Tourism, scheduled for 22 to 26 July 2026 in Pahang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Featuring speakers from India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Malaysia, the session will highlight practical cooperative tourism models and country experiences, while offering a preview of the upcoming programme.

In the webinar, opening remarks will be delivered by Prof. Shogo Takegawa, Chairperson, ICEI, followed by country presentations from sector leaders including representatives from ULCCS, NCCSL, the Nueva Segovia Consortium of Cooperatives, and Malaysia’s cooperative sector. The session will also include an introduction to the immersion programme by Dato’ Kamaruddin Ismail. Closing remarks will be delivered by Datuk Seri Dr. Hj Abdul Fattah bin Hj Abdullah, President of ANGKASA.

The webinar underscores ICA-AP’s focus on tourism as a pathway for community-based enterprise, income generation, and youth engagement. It is open to cooperators, educators, and stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region.
